Vielleicht ist es kein Zufall, dass die experimentelle Produktion in Sizilien zwischen den 1980er und den 1990er Jahren einen zunehmend ironischen und ketzerischen Ton anschlägt.
Freiwillig die Grenzen des Trashes überschreitend, produzieren Daniele Ciprì und Franco Maresco «Cinico TV»: ein geniales Programm für das staatliche Fernsehen, in dem Interviews mit verrückten und öden Charakteren das Bild eines trostlosen und hoffnungslosen Sizilien zeichnen. In einer anderen Weise reflektiert das Kollektiv Canecapovolto die gleiche Dynamik der Massenkommunikation und zeigt mit erbarmungslosem Realismus ihre sozialen Auswirkungen.

311. Cinico Tv
Mit Cinico TV wurden Maresco und Ciprì landesweit bekannt. Die Serie besteht aus 49 Kurzfilmen, die in schonungsloser Realität die Zustände in den Peripherien Palermos zeigen. VIDEOEX zeigt 35 Minuten dieses unfassbar schrägen Fernsehens, das die exakte Umkehr dessen, was man unter “politically correct” versteht, betreibt.

Subcutaneous filmclip. Attractive and repulsive images in a rapid and controversial editing show the continuous moving of the border. It is a version of the previous Meatbeat Glamour.
313. F for Fake: The Black Sun
Tiny yellow spots of retinal decay, a deafening 50-Hertz beat and the cult of the god Mytra: a story about the “murderers of the black sun” beyond Science and Technology. That is how the maker describes his short film that also uses Bataille, physical deformations, religious ecstasy and light effects.
314. The Abolition of Work
Isn’t life itself a sort of death at work? Maybe no one should ever have to work anymore? Nature condemns man to production and to consume life and leisure time. This re-elaboration of the anarchical pamphlet written by Bob Black was made by means of an experimental procedure which uses the so-called “anomalous brain waves” (cognitive dissonance) combined with more recent techniques of audiovisual research.
315. Stereo_Towards Infinite: unfixed 24
The Stereo project began in the year 2000 with the goal of classifying sounds, images, and texts, organized into Haiku-like 30-seconds structures called “drones”.Every cell is autonomous, but also works as part of a broader structure. Stereo towards infinite was meant to be modified every 40 days so that every version of its various “unfixed” edits shall be screened at only one film festival.
